Validation of the Persian version of Physical Activity Enjoyment Scale in Children

Abstract
The enjoyment of physical activity is defined as a positive affective state, either cognitive or physiological, that involves feelings of pleasure and fun associated with the completion of or performance in physical activities. The purpose of this study was determining validity and reliability of the Persian version of Physical Activity Enjoyment Scale in Children. For this purpose, 564 children ranging in age from 10 to 12 years were chosen by random Cluster sampling and completed the Persian version of Physical Activity Enjoyment Scale. The method of the research was as follows: first, with use of translation-back translation methods, translate accuracy of Persian version of questionnaires were confirmed. Confirmatory factor analysis based on structural equations was used for validation of structure of questionnaire, Cronbach alpha coefficient was used for internal consistency of questionnaire, and intra-class correlation coefficient under test-retest method was used to study temporal reliability of items. The results showed that the Physical Activity Enjoyment Scale had acceptable fit index (RMSEA=0.05, CFI=0.92, NNFI=0.90), internal consistency (0.83), and temporal reliability (0.80), indicating good validity and reliability of the Persian version of Physical Activity Enjoyment Scale. Also, the results supported 1-factor and 16-item structure of the initial of scale. Therefore, The Persian version of the Physical Activity Enjoyment Scale can be characterized as a valid and reliable tool to evaluate the Enjoyment of Physical Activity in Iranian Children.
